Scleroderma Clinical Nurse Specialists
Kathleen Elford - Monash Medical Centre


Kathleen Elford is the Scleroderma Clinical Nurse Specialist at Monash Medical Centre Scleroderma Clinic. Kathleen advises mainly on wound care and bladder and bowel incontinence. She attends the clinic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

To make an appointment with Kathleen you will need a referral letter from your Rheumatologist. Kathleen can be contacted on tel: (03) 9594 3565.

Another of Kathleen’s responsibilities is to collect information for the database, which continues to grow. There are now over 700 people who have consented to be part of this database and a review of each person is conducted annually. For those who are unable to visit on any given year there are review forms available. The information gathered through the database is vital to gaining more knowledge of the progress of Scleroderma and will assist in finding better treatments. We thank all those members who attend the clinic.

This database is an initiative of the Rheumatology Departments of St Vincent’s Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.







Barbara Gemmell - St Vincent's Hospital Clinic

Barbara Gemmell has been appointed as our Scleroderma Clinical Nurse Specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital Clinic, replacing Helen Rogers. Barbara advises mainly on wound care and bladder and bowel incontinence. She is also qualified in smoke cessation and is a credentialed diabetes educator.

To make an appointment with Barbara you will need a referral letter from your Rheumatologist. She is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and can be contacted on tel: (03) 9288 3983.
